About Me

Hesper has always cherished the unique character of Western North Carolina, not only for the area’s beauty and diversity but for the deep connections the region has to her family and her past. Whether she’s exploring country roads with clients or enjoying cycling with friends, Hesper loves the process of discovering places that are new and exciting, but are also reminiscent of her personal history and the rich character that is unique the Appalachian mountains. Born in Brevard NC, Hesper earned her bachelor’s degree in Housing and Interiors from Appalachian State University in Boone. She has lived in Henderson, Buncombe and Transylvania counties, working in a variety of aspects of the construction industry, from home remodeling and design to contractor sales. Hesper joined Steve Owen and Associates eleven years ago and enjoys working with buyers and sellers. Four years ago she teamed up with Billy Harris, working from both the South office near Cedar Mountain and the downtown Brevard office.

Her familiarity with the region and understanding of the housing industry give her a set of skills uniquely suited to NC real estate. And she takes pride in going the extra mile for her buyers and sellers: her tireless work ethic, comprehensive due diligence, ability to coordinate key players and attention to detail consistently result in successful closings. “It’s pretty exciting, the process of getting to know your clients, exploring the area, and helping buyers find the place that’s the perfect match for them. And after you’ve navigated the road to closing the deal, it’s rewarding to know that you’ve helped someone create the future that they always dreamed was possible.”

In her personal life, Hesper enjoys cooking, traveling, mountain biking, road cycling, and spending time with her family, friends, and pets. “My quality of life, in Brevard NC, is pretty amazing – whether it’s cooking with friends, getting out in the forest, or enjoying local music. When you’ve lived here your whole life, it’s easy to take all that for granted. That’s one of the things I enjoy about my work; my clients are constantly reminding me of how lucky I am to live in Transylvania County. And in return, when I’m showing Brevard’s real estate to buyers, it’s great to have a familiarity with the area, or even personal stories, that I can share. It gives them a deeper insight, a more authentic connection than they’re going to find in a brochure. It is not just a house for sale or land for sale in Brevard, NC it is a whole why of life we have to offer and share with buyers wanting to move to WNC.”

We had a very positive buying experience working with Hesper. She spent countless hours with us when we were looking for a home in the Brevard area. Hesper is knowledgeable about the area and was very detail oriented in all aspects of our purchase. She has great communication skills and was great to work with. After purchasing our home, we later worked with Hesper to purchase an adjoining lot- another positive experience. We highly recommend Hesper for anyone buying or selling a home in this area.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Hesper to purchase a home in Henderson County, NC. I was still living out of state, under time constraints to purchase a home near Hendersonville, and buying in a difficult real estate market. All this created a stressful search for me. Although Hesper had other clients, she was nonetheless always available via phone, email, text and in person to discuss and view homes. Further, Hesper is extremely knowledgeable about this market and clear and thorough in all her work and communication. And, not least at all, she is an extremely nice person. I am grateful to have had Hesper working with me during a stressful home search. I recommend her without reservations.
